Outbreak Takes Lives

Oklahoma City, OK – 4 dead in Oklahoma tornado outbreak

TECUMSEH, Okla. (AP) Four people have been killed in Oklahoma during an outbreak of violent weather that dropped tornadoes across parts of the Southern Plains.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said three people were killed at Tecumseh on Monday and that another person died at Oklahoma City. Tecumseh is about 45 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.

The agency did not have any additional details.

Oklahoma City, OK – Deadline for Okla. budget deal fast approaching

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma lawmakers have just three weeks left in the legislative session to craft a budget and either agree on new sources of revenue or impose devastating cuts to state agencies.

Closed-door negotiations are heating up as Democratic Gov. Brad Henry and Republican leaders in the House and Senate figure out how to write a budget for the upcoming fiscal year with about $1.2 billion less than they had to spend last year.

Bartlesville, OK – Kansas man, 24, drowns in Oklahoma's Copan Lake

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) State police say a 24-year-old Kansas man has drowned at Copan Lake.

A report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the body of Brandon E. Clopp, of Caney, Kan., was found Saturday morning in about 2 feet of water close to shore.

The report said Clopp, staying with friends at a campground, got up during the night complaining of leg pain and said he was going for a walk.

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. judge refuses to suppress indictment

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma County judge has denied a motion to suppress a sexual battery indictment against the former chief investigator for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

District Judge Lisa Davis on Friday denied a motion to quash the indictment against 44-year-old Kevin Rowland. The decision means Rowland's trial will start as scheduled on May 24.

Guilty Plea in BA Rape Case

Tulsa, OK – Broken Arrow man pleads guilty to child rape


TULSA, Okla. (AP) A 32-year-old Broken Arrow man has pleaded guilty to charges of raping, kidnapping and lewd molestation of a 5-year-old girl.

Douglas Polk Jr. pleaded guilty Friday in Tulsa to seven felonies and four misdemeanors. He pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic violence.

The victim was 5 when she disappeared from her home in Broken Arrow in September 2007. She was later found naked and walking along a road several miles from her home.
