Oklahoma City, OK – Backhoe cuts electricity to up to 40,000 customers
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. says all the customers in the Oklahoma City area who lost their power have been restored to service.
An OG& E representative said a backhoe digging a hole or ditch in the Shawnee area cut through a power line late Sunday morning, cutting off electricity in an area stretching from Shawnee to Oklahoma City. Up to 40,000 customers were affected.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department says seven state parks will close for good this year because of budget cuts.
Officials announced Friday that Adair State Park in Stilwell, Beaver Dunes in Beaver, Boggy Depot in Atoka, Brushy Lake in Sallisaw, Heavener Runestone in Heavener, Lake Eucha in Jay, and Wah-Sha-She in Copan will shut down Aug. 15.
Tulsa, OK – Not all in NE Okla. are ready for 10-digit dialing
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Not all residents and businesses are ready for mandatory 10-digit dialing to come to northeastern Oklahoma.
The change starts Saturday, and all local calls in the area will require a 10-digit number. It's part of an "overlay" plan to add a new 539 area code to the existing geographic 918 area code. The 918 area code numbers are expected to run out in 2012.
