Wine in Supermarkets?

Oklahoma City, OK – Chamber lobbies for wine in Okla. grocery stores

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce says it wants the state's liquor laws to change because loosening restrictions will attract new retailers.

The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/qQhDd8 ) reports that the chamber wants to put an item on the 2012 ballot to let voters decide whether to change the law.

The chamber says there are different possibilities for changing the law. Restrictions could change to just allow wine sales or allow wine and strong beer sales.

Chamber officials say the Costco warehouse store chain is prepared to open several stores in Oklahoma if it can sell wine.

Chamber vice president Mark VanLandingham says new retailers will create new jobs and increase sales tax revenue.
