Weather Service: Snow Here Possible Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT regarding the possibility of a winter storm impacting Tulsa on Tuesday. Below, you may read the statement from the Weather Service as it was sent:

POTENTIAL FOR SNOW ACCUMULATION INCREASING OVER MUCH OF EASTERN
OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT...

THE LATEST DATA INDICATES THAT A PIECE OF UPPER LEVEL ENERGY WILL
HANG BACK OVER THE WESTERN STATES IN THE WAKE OF THIS WEEKENDS
SYSTEM. THE UPPER SYSTEM IS THEN FORECAST TO SLIDE EAST ACROSS
OKLAHOMA AND ARKANSAS TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY. INDICATIONS ARE
THAT THIS SYSTEM WILL BE ABLE TO TAP INTO A STREAM OF GULF
MOISTURE WHICH COMBINED WITH LIFT FROM THE UPPER SYSTEM ITSELF
WILL INCREASE PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS MORE THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT.
THE MAIN UNCERTAINTY AT THIS POINT WILL BE TEMPERATURES IN THE
LOWEST LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE. SOME DATA SUGGESTS THAT A
REINFORCING PUSH OF COLDER AIR WILL ACCOMPANY THE SYSTEM AS IT
SWEEPS ACROSS...WHICH COMBINED WITH THE MOISTURE DRAWN INTO THE
SYSTEM COULD PRODUCE SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATION ALONG AND
NORTH OF I-40 BY TUESDAY NIGHT. OTHER DATA SUGGESTS THAT THE LOW
LEVELS WILL REMAIN TOO WARM TO SUPPORT MUCH IN THE WAY OF SNOW.
STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECASTS FOR UPDATES ON THIS POTENTIAL
WINTER STORM.
