VIDEO: Floating on the River; Tulsa's Labor Day Tradition

Great Raft Race

Tulsa's Great Raft Race got underway at 9 a.m. on Monday from the River park at Sand Springs.  This year's race along the Arkansas River featured an entry from the Montereau Retirement Community. Five of the rafters are over 80 years old.

Center Wellness Director Kristen Schooley is tasked with keeping residents active and engaged, and she likes to think outside the box.

"We think about what do people in the community think of, you know, senior citizens typically, and let's just blow their minds and get our residents involved with things that they'd never think that seniors would be involved in," Schooley said. "So, for instance, this raft race."
