Vic Regalado Elected Sheriff

supplied

Tulsa County voters have elected a Republican police sergeant to serve out the remaining term of indicted ex-sheriff Stanley Glanz.

Vic Regalado of the Tulsa Police Department beat Democrat Rex Berry in Tuesday's special election. Regalado will serve the remainder of Glanz's term, which expires at the end of the year. A general election will be held in the fall.

Glanz resigned last November following his indictment on a misdemeanor charge of failing to release an internal report about his agency, among other accusations. The grand jury began looking at the agency after Eric Harris was killed during an investigation last year.

A reserve deputy who was a friend of Glanz said he mistakenly pulled a handgun rather than his stun gun when he shot Harris.
