Fort Smith, Ark – Ft. Smith police arrest Vian, Okla., ass't chief

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) Police say a disturbance at a country-music nightclub in Fort Smith has resulted in the arrest of the assistant police chief of Vian (vy-ANN'), Okla., on misdemeanor assault and public intoxication charges.

A Sebastian County Jail official said Brian K. Chandler of the Vian Police Department was booked into the jail early Saturday morning after his arrest at the Electric Cowboy nightclub. He was released on bond later in the day.

According to the Southwest Times Record, the official said the third-degree domestic assault that Chandler faces accuses him of assaulting his girlfriend at the night spot.

A police report said Chandler was arrested after causing a disturbance at the Electric Cowboy following a bartender's refusal to serve him because he was intoxicated.
