Verdict in M.E. Case

Kevin Rowland
Oklahoma County
Kevin Rowland

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The former chief investigator for the state Medical Examiner's office who was acquitted of a sexual battery charge says the past 18 months have been hard on him and his family.

Kevin Rowland spoke with reporters shortly after a jury delivered the not-guilty verdict Wednesday morning. The panel deliberated about 45 minutes.

Rowland says he would have been nervous about the case if he had committed the crime for which he was accused.

Prosecutors alleged that Rowland grabbed the breast of a male co-worker and twisted it while both were at a south Oklahoma City restaurant in December 2007.

The alleged victim testified that he was embarrassed and offended by the act, but Rowland's attorney said the event was just horseplay.
