EDMOND, Okla. (AP) — The University of Central Oklahoma plans to encourage healthy lifestyles with a series of events in March for National Nutrition Month.

The observance is a nutrition and education information campaign from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. It encourages making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

UCO's "Color Me Healthy" campaign will highlight the importance of increasing fruit and vegetable consumption among the campus community.

Events begin on Monday with "Supermarket Smarts" where UCO health leaders will offer tips on how to navigate and choose foods in grocery stores. The program continues each Monday throughout March.

The UCO Campus Cook program will host healthy cooking demonstrations. Broncho Bites will provide a chance to sample fresh fruits and vegetables from local grocery stores and markets.
