Two More Lawmen in Trouble With the Law

KWGS News File Photo

District Attorney Matt Ballard charges Justin Hendren, Delaware County Undersheriff and Bobby “B.J.” Floyd, Craig County Undersheriff with second-degree burglary and obstructing a police officer.  Their arrests and the charges come following an investigation by the D.A.’s office.

Hendren, 41 and Floyd, 62 were taken into custody with the assistance of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshal’s service.  While the alleged crimes took place in Craig County the two were booked into the Rogers County Jail for security reasons.

Hendren was a Craig County Sheriff’s Captain until May 2015 when he was appointed to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

The burglary and obstruction charges stem from an incident at Hendren’s estranged wife’s house on March 8, 2015 near Vinita.

Craig County Sheriff Jimmie Sooter sent an incident report to D.A. Ballard that sparked the investigation headed up by Ballard’s Chief Investigator.

Ballard has also requested the OSBI conduct an investigation of the Craig County Sheriff and his office regarding irregularities; including missing evidence related to the incident.

District Attorney Ballard who serves Craig, Mayes and Rogers Counties says  “Law enforcement officers hold a position of trust.  Any violation of that trust will not be tolerated.  We filed charges today against the two undersheriffs but these allegations may never have come to light were it not for the courage of their peers coming forward to hold them accountable.  This underscores the commitment of law enforcement officers in Oklahoma to the public trust by ensuring a zero tolerance policy for illegal or unethical behavior among their ranks.”

The Judge set bond for both at $7,500.

Second-degree burglary is a felony and obstructing an officer is a misdemeanor.
