Turley, OK – 10 people suffer heat injuries in Okla. grass fire

TURLEY, Okla. (AP) Fire officials say at least four homes have been destroyed and about 20 others have been damaged in a grass fire in Turley.

Emergency Medical Services Authority spokesman Chris Stevens says 10 people were treated at area hospitals for heat exhaustion, but no one was seriously hurt.

Tulsa Fire Department spokesman Tim Smallwood says the blaze consumed about 200 acres in the Tulsa County town before it was contained Tuesday night. Officials say the fire began in a field near 56th Street North and Peoria about 1 p.m. and quickly spread.

Smallwood says officials won't know the extent of the damage until daylight.

Jane Willis says the fire destroyed her neighbor's mobile home, but her husband watered the area around their house and nothing was damaged.
