Tulsa Stays 'Gold, Ponyboy'

KWGS News

The auditorium was full at the Circle Cinema on Saturday in Tulsa. The patrons were there to mark the 50th anniversary of the novel 'The Outsiders'. The book was written by Tulsa author S.E. Hinton.

Hinton was a student at Will Rogers High School at the time. She signed copies of the book at the Saturday gathering.

The novel tells the story of a teenagers growing up in a poor, blue collar section of town and their on going feud with teens from a more prosperous side of town.

The novel was made into a movie in 1983 and was filmed in Tulsa. The house used in the movie is being turned into a museum in honor of the book and film.
