Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of our show, we discuss an upcoming "kickoff" event that will focus on planning for a Tulsa Regional Transit System. INCOG, as Tulsa's regional transportation planning agency, has recently begun to develop preliminary mass-transit plans in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority, the City of Tulsa, and INCOG member communities (including Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Owasso, and Sand Springs). This kickoff will happen on Wednesday the 19th at the TCC Center for Creativity (at 910 S. Boston Avenue). Highlights for the event will include an afternoon symposium and evening open house. Among the transit advocates scheduled to speak at this kickoff is Patrick McCrory, formerly the mayor of Charlotte, NC. McCrory is one of our two guests on today's edition of ST; the other is James Wagner, a Senior Transportation Planner with INCOG. For more about this event, including a detailed listing of what is happening when, be sure to check out this link: [http://www.transitsystemplan.org/website/tabid/65/ctl/ViewItem/mid/423/ItemId/4/Default.aspx?SkinSrc=/website/Portals/0/Skins/FastForward/SubPage].
