CATOOSA, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma man is among 11 people who will be honored this week at the White House for achievements in the transportation industry.
Robert Portiss will be recognized Tuesday as a White House Transportation Champion of Change. The White House and U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx selected this year's winners for their achievements, leadership and innovation in transportation.
Portiss is director of the City of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority. He's described as a "passionate advocate for inland waterways issues." Officials say he was instrumental in forging a formal partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Arkansas-Oklahoma Port Operators Association.
