Texas Firm Wants to Renovate a Shopping Area... But There is a Catch

KWGS News/T-Gov

A Texas based entertainment company wants to place an upscale movie theatre, with full bar and restaurant service,  in a decaying shopping center at 68th and South Memorial. The area is in Anna America’s City Council District, but she says the project would benefit the entire city.

The firm wants a partial sales tax rebate from the city when it meets revenue and employment goals. The rebate period would be for 10-years. The City Council will have to approve any such agreement.

In addition to the movie theaters, the Cinergy Corporation wants to add bowling lanes and gaming halls. This would be the firm's first expansion into Oklahoma.
