StudioTulsa on Health: "A Social Media Guide for Physicians and Medical Practices"

Aired on Monday, April 29th.

Everyone knows the Internet is affecting if not entirely changing just about every facet of life today, and one area where this is particularly apparent is that of health and medicine. (Have you ever googled your doctor? Or do you know someone who's done so? Or did you ever, say, seek out online comments about a dentist you were thinking of switching to?) On this edition of StudioTulsa on Health, guest host John Henning Schumann speaks with Kevin Pho, a board-certified internal medicine physician based in New Hampshire who's also the founder of the highly popular website, KevinMD.com, which Forbes has called a "must-read health blog." Dr. Pho describes his own "unique social media journey" on our program. He then speaks in general about the increasingly important role that online communication --- especially social media --- is playing in contemporary American health care, and in particular about his new book: "Establishing, Managing, and Protecting Your Online Reputation: A Social Media Guide for Physicians and Medical Practices." It's a guidebook with a focused and fairly urgent message for physicians everywhere (as we read in the book's promo copy): "Do not let others define you on the web. Take control of your online reputation now!"
