Student Kills Self at Stillwater Junior High

Stillwater Public Schools

One student is dead after a self-inflicted gunshot wound at Stillwater Junior High School early this Wednesday morning, according to Captain Randy Dickerson of the Stillwater Police Department.

Authorities are attempting to notify the family of the victim, but have not released any more information on his or her identity.

The school is in the process of getting evacuated to the Cimarron Plaza. Parents will be able to pick up students there, according to Stillwater Public Schools. They sent a letter to parents earlier this morning:

“There was a single shooting incident at the school today. The students and staff are currently in their safe lockdown locations with their classroom teachers. At approximately 9:00 am, all students will begin to be transported to Cimarron Plaza via SPS transportation for parent pick up. Parents will not be allowed to pick up their students at the school today. Please pick them up at Cimarron Plaza. Thank you!”

Authorities evacuated nearly Skyline Elementary, but police say they are “in the process of re-opening” the school.
