Oklahoma City, OK – NWS upgrades 3 Okla. tornadoes from EF-3 to EF-4

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) The number of confirmed tornadoes that touched down during a deadly severe weather outbreak in Oklahoma has grown to 11.

The National Weather Service office in Norman says seven tornadoes touched down in central Oklahoma on Tuesday, killing 10 people. The weather service office in Tulsa has identified four tornadoes that went through eastern Oklahoma.

Forecasters say a tornado struck near Haskell and stayed on the ground for 8 miles before lifting near Redbird. That storm and a twister that tracked through Osage County were assigned a preliminary rating of EF-2, which has winds of between 111 and 135 mph.
