By KWGS News

Tulsa, OK – Powerful thunderstorms rumble through Tulsa breaking the high heat, but also causing damage. High winds, estimated at 70-miles an hour took out trees and power poles in the area around 21st and Sheridan.

The Public Service Company of Oklahoma says lightning also hit transformers causing more outages. The Utility is reporting about 18,000 customers off line as of 9:30 Saturday evening.

The Police and Fire Departments have been responding to numerous alarm calls. The Public Works Department is setting up four way stop signs in blacked out intersections. The outdoor concert in the Brady District was called off when the storm blew through causing some minor damage to the stage.

EMSA reports no injuries.
