Tulsa, OK –
Construction of a new water line in the intersection of West 23rd Street and Southwest Boulevard will require some lane closures this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12-13. Traffic will be limited to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane on West 23rd Street between Southwest Boulevard and 1 blocks to the east. All lanes on West 23rd Street will reopen on Monday, Dec. 14.
This work is part of a street rehabilitation project on Southwest Boulevard between West 23rd Street and the Arkansas River bridge. This is one of Tulsa's projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ("stimulus"). The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has contracted with Paragon Contractors LLC for this $2,664,933 project. Completion is scheduled for October 2010.
The project consists of pavement rehabilitation - replacing damaged concrete panels. A thorough reconstruction is included near the railroad crossing. Other parts of the project include replacement of a 12-inch waterline, addition and repair of sidewalks, upgrades to traffic signals at 23rd Street and 17th Street, and some sanitary sewer work. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout construction, with one lane open in each direction.
