Oklahoma City, OK – Lawyer claims state improperly spent stimulus $

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma City attorney claims in a lawsuit that the state is improperly spending federal stimulus money.

Jerry Fent filed the lawsuit with the state Supreme Court saying the state didn't get the money certified through the state Equalization Board. The board certifies how much money lawmakers have to spend each fiscal year.

More than $600 million in federal stimulus money was used to balance the 2010 fiscal year budget.

Fent says he's not asking that the money be returned but that the state follow proper procedures for spending.

Spokesmen for both the governor and attorney general say the lawsuit is being reviewed.
