Stimulus Funds for County Parks

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Plans call for wind turbines and solar panels to go up in three Tulsa County parks, to be paid for using $250,000 in federal stimulus money.

County Park Administration Director Richard Bales says he hopes the alternative energy sources will trim his agency's electric bills.

He says the parks that will receive the energy technology were chosen because their location made the parks accessible to the wind, and the windmills could be installed out of the way of the public.

The county received $554,300 in stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Energy. The parks project is one of five energy programs the county plans to implement with the money.
