State Treasurer Visits with White House Officials

State of Oklahoma-File photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Treasurer Ken Miller is in Washington, D.C., meeting with some of the nation's top economic advisers.

Miller and a delegation of fellow state treasurers met at the White House Monday with President Barack Obama's senior economic team to discuss the economic health of the states and the status of the U.S. economic recovery.

Miller will continue meetings Tuesday as part of the National Association of State Treasurers' annual legislative conference.

Miller says he appreciates the invitation to provide the president's economic advisers with "input on fiscal policy from a state level perspective."

He says treasurers were briefed on the nation's economic condition by White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and members of the Council of Economic Advisers, the National Economic Council and officials with the U.S. Treasury Department.
