Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. man pleads guilty to 27 years of theft
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma City man accused of stealing a deceased relative's Social Security payments for nearly 30 years has pleaded guilty in federal court to theft and making false statements.
Fifty-nine-year-old Charles White entered a guilty plea Friday to stealing $78,945 in Social Security from his late step-grandfather. Federal prosecutors allege White actually took nearly $330,000 in benefits, but White's attorney Paul Lacy says the statute of limitations on the crime only extends back five years.
White also pleaded guilty to three counts of making false statements to the Social Security Administration by claiming he spent the benefits on food, clothing, housing and medical expenses for his deceased step-grandfather.
