The Brightmusic Society of Oklahoma opened their eleventh season of concerts with a program entitled “Souvenirs for an Archduke.” Offered in duo venues: Monday, September 16th at All Soul’s Episcopal Church, Oklahoma City, and Tuesday, September 17th the program featured returning guest pianist Gloria Chien and excerpts from the charming and elegant Souvenirs: Suite for Piano Four Hands Op 28 by Samuel Barber, Ludwig van Beethoven's noble and heroic Piano Trio No. 7 in B-flat Major, Op 97 (Archduke) and the lushly romantic and dramatic Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op 15 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Gloria Chien offers commentary about the music, collaborating with Brightmusic musicians, and her special affinity for performing chamber music. A delightful evening of music spotlighting the piano in chamber ensemble settings.
Tune in at 8pm on Saturday, October 20th on Classical 88.7-1.
