Oklahoma City, OK – Thousands still withour power from storm

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Thousands of Oklahomans remain without power as a massive winter storm continues to bring heavy snow and high winds to the state.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co.'s Web site reported Thursday evening that about 6,300 homes and businesses its serves are without power, including 4,300 in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma spokeswoman Andrea Chancellor says fewer than 4,000 customers remain without power in the Lawton area. Earlier Thursday, 14,000 homes and businesses had been without power in Lawton and western Oklahoma because of the storm.

Chancellor says repair crews were able to restore electrical power after strong winds from the storm died down. Winds gusted up to 60 mph at the height of the storm.
