Senator Inhofe Returns to the Senate Floor

Jim Inhofe

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe has returned to the floor of the U.S. Senate eight days after his son died in a plane crash.

The Oklahoman reports that Inhofe, a Republican, took the floor Monday afternoon to discuss the defense bill — but first thanked the Senate chaplain and majority leader Harry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada, for their comments about his son's death.

Dr. Perry Inhofe was killed when the plane he was piloting crashed near Owasso on Nov. 10. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, but has not released a preliminary report as of Monday afternoon.
