Sand Springs will Fund 'American' Study

Shan Gray

The city of Sand Springs will pay for a feasibility study for the giant 200-plus foot American statute. The designer wants to build the 21-story bronze monument about three miles north of Sand Springs.

The city council voted last night to $45,000 on the study. The study will explore the costs of extending roads and utilities to the site as well as the potential economic impact the monument, featuring a native American, would have on the Sand Springs area.
