Saint Francis Building Glenpool Complex

Saint Francis is building a 49,000-square foot complex in Glenpool.

The two-story building will be near the southeast corner of U.S. 75 and 151st Street and will feature a 24 hours a day, seven days a week level-three emergency room with three exam rooms and a trauma bay. The facility will also house primary care physician offices.

"To complement these offerings, there will also be outpatient imaging and a rehabilitation therapy center," said Saint Francis COO Barry Steichen.

Glenpool Mayor Tim Fox said he was impressed by his first look at the plans.

"It's pretty emotional, because I'm a 32 year resident of Glenpool, and never in my wildest dreams did I think that we would have this sort of access for our citizens," Fox said.

The announcement for the new facility got political. Saint Francis CEO Jake Henry Jr. said the health system is building it despite Oklahoma's elected officials having a tough time dealing with the Affordable Care Act.

"Because Gov. Fallin failed to sign into law an expanded Medicaid program and left thousands and thousands of people without insurance, it's been very bumpy, both for those who don't have access and for the facilities who have to continue to absorb the bad debt generated by that," Henry said.

Construction will begin later this year, and the facility should be completed by the spring of 2017.
