The Tulsa Great Great Raft Race is an annual Labor Day event. Adventurers take to the Arkansas River for a float trip. Hundreds take part and even more watch from the banks as the homemade rafts sail through Tulsa.
The crafts launched at 8 a.m. on Monday for the trip to the River West Festival Park. The raft race started decades ago as a radio station promotion. It was canceled in the early 1990s because of liability concerns and expense. It was restarted, by a civil organization, three years ago.
