Tulsa, Okla. – Tulsa-area kids age 11-15 can learn and improve on their babysitting skills this summer by signing up for the Tulsa Red Cross's Babysitting Boot Camp.

June's camp is over, but kids may still sign up for July's session, which will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22 and 23.

Ken Draper oversees classes at the Red Cross.

"We try to make it fun for the kids; we add a lot of games in to the curriculum, so that they're learning games that they can play with the kids," he said. "They're also learning some important skills, such as CPR and first aid."

Participants learn first aid, safety and babysitting techniques like diaper changing. They get tips on interviewing for babysitting jobs, how to write a resume, and safe ways to find a babysitting job.

"They're learning about leadership, they're learning about business," Draper said. "I think they really take this skill on in their life into the work field."

To sign up, visit tulsaredcross.org. The cost of the class is $75 and includes lunch and a babysitting backpack.
