Tulsa-based 12 And 12 is about two-thirds of the way to a fundraising goal that will allow the addiction recovery program to expand and upgrade its facility.
Transforming Recovery campaign member Lon Foster said the $8.7 million first phase will let 12 And 12 offer affordable services ranging from detox to transitional living to more people suffering from addiction or co-existing mental health and substance abuse disorders.
"I don’t know of any other recovery program in the state. There are some through the state mental health department, but we’re really it," Foster said.
12 And 12’s planned new programs include a 30 bed expansion, a public inebriation center in partnership with the City of Tulsa and a new OSU Outpatient Addiction Clinic.
The Transforming Recovery campaign has raised $5.6 million now, with the most recent donation, $700,000, coming from The Bama Companies. Bama CEO Paula Marshall said the state is not moving in the right direction on mental health and substance abuse treatment.
"With the kind of problems we have in our state, we need more treatment centers like 12 And 12 — affordable, rehab, long-term care," Marshall said. "An ability, I feel like — teenagers. We need to, you know, add, down the road, an ability to help more and more and more people this way."
