Tulsa, OK – A proposal for a one-cent public safety tax receives a chilly reception from members of the city council. The proposal from councilor Jack Henderson will go to a council vote Thursday night.Henderson's proposal would sent the measure to a vote of the people.

Councilor John Eagleton says the proposal would only make Tulsa's problems worse and force people to shop in the suburbs where, in some cases, sales taxes are less. Other councilors voiced their displeasure with the idea during this morning's committee meeting.

Councilor Jack Henderson drafted the proposal. He says the citizens should decide if they want to spend the money.
