Shipping totals for December were strong at the Port, helping the annual tonnage for 2014 achieve the fourth best year on record.
Total inbound/outbound tonnage for the month of December was 211,913 tons. Cumulative shipping for 2014 was 2,367,127 tons, 334,000 tons lower than 2013.
Nearly all of that decline can be attributed to a lack of crude oil moving through the Port.
Outbound totals for agricultural and dry bulk commodities were virtually unchanged, while inbound tonnage figures were actually higher in 2014 than the previous year.
