Plane Crash Near Claremore

By Associated Press

Claremore, OK – 2 escape after plane crash in eastern Oklahoma

CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a couple escaped serious injuries when their small airplane crashed in a wooded area near the Claremore airport.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the twin-engine plane went down about 5:30 p.m. Friday just north of Oklahoma 20.

The husband and wife were able to get out of the aircraft safely before it caught fire. Claremore Fire Chief Bob Anderson says by the time crews arrived, the plane was engulfed in flames.

The woman was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but she was expected to be OK.

The plane was en route from Texas.
