Opening Arguments Could Come Today in Shelby Case

KWGS News

Opening arguments are possible later today in the First Degree Manslaughter case of Tulsa Police Officer Betty Shelby. The White police officer is accused in the death of unarmed Black man, Terrance Crutcher, last September.  While Crutcher was unarmed, a toxicology report did show drugs in his system.  Shelby has said she shot Crutcher as he failed to follow her commands and she thought he was reaching for a gun.

Jury selection is expected to wrap up this morning in Tulsa District Court. Tonight, the Reverend Al Sharpton comes to Tulsa for what is being called a "Prayer Rally". It will be held at the Jazz Hall of Fame.

Yard signs, showing support for Officer Shelby have been removed from the right-of-way of the Broken Arrow Expressway. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the signs were illegally placed.
