Oklahoma Youth Expo Funding Suit Mostly Dismissed

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma County judge has dismissed much of a lawsuit that challenges the state funding of the Oklahoma Youth Expo.

Oklahoma County District Judge Bryan Dixon on Friday dismissed all legislators and members of the executive branch of government from the lawsuit filed by Republican Representative Mike Reynolds of Oklahoma City.

Reynolds alleges that the state violated a prohibition on gifts of public money when it allocated $2 million to the private livestock show.

The judge left standing two allegations regarding the Department of Agriculture's contract with the expo. Reynolds tells the Tulsa World that he looks forward to forcing the Agriculture Department to prove it didn't go around state purchasing laws in making the deal.

The Agriculture Department declined to comment, citing the ongoing litigation.
