OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma state Board of Education has eliminated a rule that allowed students accepted into a four-year college to receive an automatic waiver from end-of-instruction tests.
High school students are required to pass four tests from a list of seven tests in order to receive their high school diplomas. Students accepted into a four-year college were given an automatic waiver from the testing requirements.
The board voted 4-1 Thursday to eliminate the exemption. Board member Bill Price said he sees no need for any automatic waivers.
The board's vote came after it rejected a proposal by member Joy Hofmeister to add students attending certain two-year colleges to the list for an automatic waiver.
