OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City man has been sentenced to serve six months in federal prison for making a threat to commit violence in Casper, Wyo.
U.S. Attorney Sanford Coats said the sentence was meted out Wednesday to 34-year-old Glenn Allen Kirkham. Kirkham pleaded guilty in March.
The threats were made on Jan. 14 on an Internet-based bulletin board service. Authorities in Casper then locked down 40 schools, notified area hospitals and nursing homes and police were sent to areas where an attack was considered possible. Sanford says the threat came not long after a suspicious death at a college in Casper.
Kirkham was arrested the same day and said he had "posted a work of artistic falsehood." Investigators have said Kirkham was apparently upset about a possible automatic weapons ban.
