Northern Oklahoma Grass Fire That Prompted Evacuation Doused

BLACKWELL, Okla. (AP) — A large grass fire in Blackwell that resulted in the evacuation of several dozen homes has been extinguished.

Firefighters on Friday told residents in about 40 homes to get out for their own safety.

Oklahoma City television station KOCO reports that no homes were damaged and all residents have been allowed to return home.

About 80 acres burned and crews from at least four fire departments were needed to douse the blaze.
