On the Next All This Jazz: An Ever-So-Tuneful Spotlight on the Blues

Tune in for the next installment of All This Jazz, which begins at 10pm on Saturday the 22nd, right here on Public Radio 89.5. (We'll also offer, as always, a 7pm re-broadcast of ATJ on Sunday the 23rd on Jazz 89.5-2, which is Public Radio Tulsa's all-jazz HD Radio channel.)

Each week, our program delivers 120 minutes of mighty fine modern jazz, both recent and classic --- from Cannonball Adderley and Louis Armstrong to John Zorn and Joe Zawinul. And the second hour of the broadcast always has a theme.

This time around --- as we listen back to a show that first aired in September of 2013 --- that theme will be Blues Tunes. Therefore we'll hear, in the latter half of our program, such immortal jazz/blues numbers as "Blues in the Night," "Pete Kelly's Blues," and "All Blues." And in the first hour of the program, moreover, we'll dig some wonderful music from the likes of Dewey Redman (shown here), Alex Sipiagin, Chucho Valdes, Jean-Luc Ponty, and others.

Hope you can come along. It's all kinds of jazz, and it's all kinds of fun. It's All This Jazz.

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
