Norman, OK – Weather service: 6 tornadoes in SW Okla. Tuesday

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) A preliminary report by the National Weather Service says a strong storm system produced six tornadoes in southwestern Oklahoma.

No deaths or serious injuries were reported as a result of the outbreak on Tuesday afternoon.

The report says twisters touched down between 2:54 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tuesday near Tipton, Manitou, Snyder, Mountain Park, Carnegie and Fort Cobb. The report says a single thunderstorm that developed in northwestern Texas produced each of the tornadoes as it moved into Oklahoma.

Emergency managers in the region report that an Oklahoma State University extension office was heavily damaged during the storm. Light to moderate damage was also reported to homes and trailers and to farm equipment.
