Mayoral Debate Interrupted

RSU-TV

An hour long debate featuring the top two candidates for Tulsa Mayor, was nearing the end. That is when perennial candidate and community activist Paul Tay jumped in front of the live TV cameras, demanding time to speak.

The invitation threshold was 10% or more community support as measured in a recent Sooner Poll. Only Mayor Bartlett and challenger G.T. Bynum met that threshold. Tay had only 1.6% in the poll.

Earlier in the broadcast, which was heard live on KWGS, Bartlett and Bynum discussed several issues including the Tulsa Jail, relations with county, economic development, the education sales tax, using park land at 71st and Riverside for retail development and Tulsa's mowing cycles.

The debate was sponsored by KWGS, The Tulsa World, RSU-TV and the Tulsa Regional Chamber.
