Margaritaville Hotel Construction Reaches Top Floor

Construction of River Spirit’s Margaritaville hotel reaches another milestone.

The top floor of the 27-story tower is in place, so Creek Nation and local officials marked the occasion with a topping off ceremony. A signed beam, flags and a Margaritaville-appropriate palm tree were hoisted to the top.

Principal Chief James Floyd praised construction workers for a job well done.

"To have a project of this size be on time, on budget and very few incidents to slow us down, they've done a tremendous job," Floyd said.

Floyd said the new hotel and casino will mean new jobs.

"In addition to the 900-plus employees we have now, we will be employing an additional 1,000 people here with the expansion and with the Margaritaville," Floyd said.

With all floors of the 483-room hotel now in place, crews will work on enclosing the tower in glass and building the interior.

The Margaritaville expansion at River Spirit began in 2013. The casino and restaurant should open Labor Day weekend, and the hotel should open by the end of the year.
