WARNER, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a man has died after being shot with a stun gun by a Warner police officer.
The OSBI says the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office asked the OSBI to investigate the early Saturday morning death of 33-year-old David Cody Lynch.
The agency says Lynch was involved in an auto accident shortly before midnight Friday and was shot with a stun gun after assaulting the officer investigating the accident.
The OSBI says the officer then handcuffed Lynch before noticing he had stopped moving and breathing. Lynch was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His body was sent to the state medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
The officer — whose name has not been released — was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
