TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A Tulsa man has been arrested in the death of a 1-year-old who authorities say showed signs of sexual abuse and physical trauma. In custody is 30-year-old Cody Johnson.
Johnson and his girlfriend, the baby's mother, took the child to an emergency room Saturday. She was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest upon arrival.
Police said her injuries included contusions on her face and internal trauma consistent with rape.
According to the report, the couple told police the girl was injured when she slipped and fell on a toy.
Johnson was brought in for further questioning and arrested. He faces charges of child abuse, sexual abuse of a minor and first-degree murder. The Associated Press is not naming him because he hasn't officially been charged.
Jail records show he's due in court Monday.
