Lorton Opening at TU

By Sarah Rayner

Tulsa, OK – With the new Lorton Performance Hall open this weekend, the feeling of success in the air is evident. As the performance center hosts an open house today, the center is on full display and demonstrates the multiple uses for the facility especially for its students.
Besides a two-level concert hall and recital and rehearsal halls, there are also 15 practice rooms and labs for music students. The opening of the Lorton Performance Center is part of a long held dream by the University of Tulsa, and provides "students the opportunity to hone their musical talents." All of the performing arts will reside here, bringing more interaction between the different departments for a greater outcome.
For the first year the university will concentrate more on the students and faculty of TU, and then broaden its reach to include more of the City of Tulsa. Funds for the construction of the center came from Tulsa's Lorton family, who are the owners of the Tulsa World.
