Lawton, Ok – Oklahoma prison inmate collapses, dies

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a Lawton Correctional Facility inmate has died.

Pablo Paez of GEO Group, which operates the facility, told the Lawton Constitution that 59-year-old James Bowen's cellmate pressed a panic button to alert staffers after Bowen collapsed around 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

Paez says medical personnel couldn't revive Bowen and he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m.

Paez says the preliminary cause of death has been determined to be natural causes, possibly heart failure.
