Influenza Off to a Slow Start in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of flu cases resulting in hospitalizations in Oklahoma this flu season remains low.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Wednesday reported 22 people hospitalized and no deaths due to influenza for the 2015-2016 flu season that started with the beginning of October. Last flu season there were a record of more than 2,000 people hospitalized and more than 100 died as a result of the flu.

Health department records show that the number of cases of influenza resulting in hospitalizations or deaths spiked sharply upward during the first few weeks of December.
