Henry: 2014 Governor Bid Unlikely, NOT Impossible

Governor Brad Henry
State of Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Former Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry says it's unlikely he'll run for governor in 2014, but he didn't rule out the possibility.

Henry told The Associated Press on Thursday night that he's confident he's eligible for a third term as the state's chief executive.

Henry says he doesn't envision a bid against Republican Governor Mary Fallin in 2014, but added when it comes to politics "never say never."

The 50-year-old from Shawnee served two consecutive terms as Oklahoma's governor from 2002 to 2010. At that time, the Oklahoma Constitution prohibited governor's from serving "more than two times in succession."

Henry says a subsequent change to the constitution approved by voters in 2010 wouldn't apply retroactively to him or any other former two-term governors.
